A warning: in my case, this firmware not only boosted the performance of GPU, but also considerably increased the general power output of my laptop. Think twice if you have some device sensitive to this change, e.g., earphone with very low resistance or connected to an amplifier.

Sorry I meant “make the Venus a much more functional hub!”

From a comment below:
“is there anyway to supply USB bus power to the USB 3.0 board in the Mantiz Venus? a bummer it can’t handle the power draw of even a single portable drive.”

+1 if this is not currently possible. It would make the venue a much more functional hub!

“Here is error code: 0×208 SDK_SERVICE_NOT_FOUND Thunderbolt service doesn’t exist.”
In Bootcamp, it is not able to just execute the FW update.exe:
Please follow this:
1. remove the GPU from the enclosure or hot-unplug then hot-plug to yellow-bang the eGPU
2. Download Thunderbolt driver here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26052/NUCs-Thunderbolt-Bus-Driver-for-Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC6i7KYK, then update it.
3. Then you can start to exe the FWupdate file. ( Put the dll & exe in the same folder )

“Select TBX-550CA_NOMOD” step into the “Flashing” step: “Error: 0×10A 266 Error while getting the PD firmware version”

It means the board doesnt need to be updated.

Same here… “Here is error code: 0×208 SDK_SERVICE_NOT_FOUND Thunderbolt service doesn’t exist.”

Mac OS update would be preferable as well.

Hi, I’m using Mantiz Venus with 2016 Macbook Pro 15" model with Windows 10 on Bootcamp.
I’ve been using it very well for now, but when I execute FwUpdateTool_TBX-550CA_NOMOD_Mantiz.exe, firmware cannot be updated.
Here is error code: 0×208 SDK_SERVICE_NOT_FOUND Thunderbolt service doesn’t exist.
”I think it says there is no thunderbolt device connected, which doesn’t make sense.
Additionally, after I encounter this error, I tried to reinstall thunderbolt driver which can be downloaded in Intel webpage.
And this firmware update tool says same error code.
I’m using Mantiz Venus well but it would be much better that you would help me fix this problem.
p.s. I disabled some PCI Express downstream switch port because of lack of resources to use Mantiz Venus.“

same problem!!

I’m having a problem getting the firmware update utility to work. I’m using an MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 4K (6th Gen) (GTX 970M) with the latest MSI-supplied Thunderbolt 3 firmware. When I had the MSI-supplied Thunderbolt 3 drivers installed, the Flash utility threw an exception immediately and refused to run.

When I removed the latest MSI Thunderbolt 3 driver, and used the one that was automatically installed by Windows 10 updater, I get the same error message as Ricardo: “Error: 0×10A 266 Error while getting the PD firmware version”. Here are my TB3 system details:

Thunderbolt Software
-—————————————
Software package version: 16.3.61.275
Application version: 16.3.61.14
Service version: 16.3.61.3
Controller driver version: 16.3.61.2
Networking driver version: Unknown

Thunderbolt Controller
-—————————————-
Thunderbolt generation: Thunderbolt 3 (1575)
Number of ports: 1
Security Level: No security (SL0)
NVM Firmware version: 16.00

Mantiz Support: Contact me by email if you want any additional information. Thank you.

Agree that there HAS to be some way to update firmware without a Windows machine, I don’t have access to a Windows machine with thunderbolt hardware. I have spent the past 5-6 hours trying to install the firmware update via various hacks on a Mac. I’m done. Don’t have time for this.

Agreed that Mac firmware updater would be great.
And a bit off topic, but John Li, is there anyway to supply USB bus power to the USB 3.0 board in the Mantiz Venus? a bummer it can’t handle the power draw of even a single portable drive.

Worked great for me and seems to be an improvement in performance, but I’ll be doing full benchmarks later. I made sure the tb3 utility was running under Administrator privileges, checked connected devices prior to updating, then also launched the firmware update package “as Administrator”. Took about 2 minutes total.

Also encoutered error 0×208 SDK_SERVICE_NOT_FOUND Thunderbolt service doesn’t exist…

Despite that, I agree that a Macos updater is true necessity.

Since a substantial number of your customers are Apple MacBook / MacBook Pro users, a way for us to upgrade the firmware without using Windows is needed.

Hello, when I try to update the firmware, this error comes up when click the “next” button from the “Select TBX-550CA_NOMOD” step into the “Flashing” step: “Error: 0×10A 266 Error while getting the PD firmware version”. Please advise… I am trying this because the mantiz keeps creating a BSOD and freezes the display everytime I open a fullscreen game.
